A reminder that all lines for parts and songs need to be learned over the holidays so we are word perfect ready for rehearsals to commence in earnest after the half term.
Thank you to everyone for all their hard work to date. Have a brilliant half term and see you in a week's time. Mrs W. A reminder that the children will be performing in our annual Remembrance Day assembly. Please be seated in the Primary Hall by 10.00am for a 10.15am start. All children will need a costume in the style of a 1940’s child which they will then be able to wear the following day for Evacuation Day. (Some children will need to have a soldier’s costumes – they should know who they are.) Evacuation Day Monday 14th November 2016 The children will then be taking part in their very own real life Evacuation Day. As well as the children coming dressed as 1940s school children (or soldiers) we would like the children to experience a VE celebration tea party. Each child will need to bring a tea cup and saucer, a plate and small home-made cake to make for a real life tea party. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primaryhistory/world_war2/evacuation/ is a great website for costume inspiration. Thank you for you continuing support. Year 6 Team. A massive congratulations to the brave Y4, 5 and 6 children who performed their sequences in front of a large audience in assembly this morning. All of the children have worked so hard on their Gymnastics this half term and should be very proud of themselves.
Please see pictures attached of the performances this morning. pmc_nov_2012_answers.pdf pmc_nov_2011_answers.pdf pmc_nov_2013_answers.pdf pmc_nov_2011.pdf pmc_nov_2013.pdf pmc_nov_2012.pdf The Primary Mathematics Challenge is a fun and exciting mathematical challenge aimed at the higher levels in Years 5 and 6 in UK National Curriculum schools. The PMC is designed to make pupils think outside the box. The questions asked are not necessarily subjects that have been covered in the curriculum by this time but the questions can create a great starting point that lead to discussions later in the year. The language used and the way they are asked to make pupils think shows that not all mathematics questions comes down to your mathematical knowledge but rather your interpretation of the question and in some cases reading it properly! The PMC paper has 25 questions to be answered in 45 minutes. The first ten questions are slightly easier graduating to harder questions, the final five being the most difficult. This year we are offering all the children in Year 6 the opportunity to sit the test week beginning the 13th November during one of their maths lessons. I have attached a number of past papers and the corresponding answer sheets for the children to access as part of their optional take away homework over the coming weeks. If your child would like to take part in the challenge, please complete the reply slip emailed home today and return to me by Sunday 30th October. The children will need to commit to completing the past papers as practice to prepare them for the day. This is another exciting opportunity in their learning but if your child is finding it too difficult, they should stop and come and see me. If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me at [email protected] or you can access the website at http://www.primarymathschallenge.org.uk Kind regards Sarah Baqla Primary Maths Subject Leader After editing our iMovies to create an emotive background we are now going to add a little Hollywood magic to them by using the green screening app 'Do Ink - Green Screen' Mr Jones wrote a little post about it here that you could explore... Have a look at the two videos below to remind yourself about green screen in big budget films, and think about how you can apply this to your work with simply a green Ikea shower curtain and an iPad!
The images below give you an idea of how to use DoInk Green Screen, you may even want to get it on your iPad and have a play at home? https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/green-screen-by-do-ink/id730091131?mt=8 How will you make sure your project looks good, is full of emotion and has smooth transitions?
Will you need to mix back in iMovie to make the best of it? Good Luck and I can't wait to see your creations!
You're all becoming experts at creating movies, but the guide below and the video will help you to become EVEN better! Can you take and add images to iMovie? Have you been able to re-order and even add effects to them? Are you able to add your own sounds, trim them, duplicate them and layer them? Can you fade the sounds in and out... look at the resources below and soon you will be able to!
The video below shows how to manipulate sound, how will you do?
Altering Sound - Year 6 from Peter Jones on Vimeo. Please bring in a small empty water bottle (330ml) for your Science lesson next week. We will be using it for our investigation into micro-organisms.
During our WWI topic we used our enquiring skills to research the important figure of General Haig. Some historians thought he was a hero while others thought he was nothing short of a butcher who sent men to their deaths! We used a vast amount of evidence and had to use our investigative skills to differentiate between what we would use and want we would disregard. The result was a great debate with both sides giving a great defense of their opinion. Who won? Ask your child to explain which opinion was triumphant. |
